Week 9

Chocolate, bunnies, and hot cross buns!!

In Tūhura we have had a big week preparing for the triathlon. Today all of the children competed in either the individual or team race and we are very proud of all them for getting out there and doing it! Thank you to our amazing parents who helped out today and came to support!

Whats happening this week:
  • Next Friday and the following Monday and Tuesday school is closed for Easter Holidays.
  • We will not be swimming anymore at school now until term 4.

Seesaw:

Over the next few weeks your will get multiple notifications via SEESAW. One is the assessment rubrics we are working from this term. Please take the time to comment on your child's learning.

Named clothing:

We have so much unnamed clothing at school. We please ask that every item of clothing is named. For those children that wear clothes that have been handed down by older siblings or friend etc, please can you rename these items with your child's name.

Week 8

 Welcome to Week 8....Tryathlon Week!

What is happening this week:

  • Wednesday: Triathon
  • Friday: Sausage Sizzle order on kindo and Year 8's chocolate sale after school
Triathlon:
Today we have talked with all the students about the Triathlon, for most of our students they are keen to do the whole thing themselves and some are choosing to do this in teams. If your child has picked to do it in a team they will bring home a piece of paper today so you know what part they are doing.
For everyone that is biking on the day we will have a practice at lunchtime on Tuesday, so please bring your bike if your child wants to have a practice before Wednesday. All students need to have a a correct helmet that fits to take part in the biking.
Any questions please send us an email.

If you need to contact us for any thing our email addresses are
p.gray@clarkville.school.nz
h.greenslade @clarkville.school.nz

Studyladder:
All students have been signed up for Studyladder for both Literacy and Maths, if your child hadn't got a login yet they will get this on Monday. Because of how are groups work each child will have to different login for each subject. These logins have been glued into their notebooks, if your child doesn't have a notebook at school they will not get their logins until this comes to school.
This notebook is key to learning between home and school.

 Woohoo Gala.

To all those PTA parents, well done on bring the Gala together!

What's happening this week:
  • Wednesday Sushi, order for Kindo
  • Friday Assembly 9:10am and Subway for lunch, order through Kindo
We have a student on our team who is highly allergic to eggs, so we ask that your child brings no boiled eggs, egg sandwiches etc to school, eggs in baking is ok. We thank you for your support with this.

We had a great day out at Baynon's Brake on Wednesday. Thank you to the parents who came along and supported us. Check out the photos below!

It is getting cooler and some of the students are finding our pool is getting cold. We do ask that your child brings their togs each day as we are training for our school tryathlon in 2 weeks, so we will be doing some training around this, but our time in the pool will be shorter.

Week 6

 Welcome to Gala Week!

Hopefully the Alert Level changes and we can go ahead with our Gala.

Please put your name down for baking!

We have had a wonderful week in our team. We are getting our head around the way the team works and how to best work so that we can optimise our learning. Your child should be bring ing home their reading folder each day with a book and a notebook that has their spelling words in it. Please check this daily to help us develop this routine.

We have a trip on Tuesday 9 with Hōpara, we are going to Baynon Brake. In support of our work in the local community as an Enviroschool, Tūhura and Hōpara will enjoy a trip to Baynons Brake on Tuesday 9 March. The teams will be involved in activities including planting, bioblitzing, nest making and seed sourcing. Ecan staff will lead the activities and they will provide a sausage sizzle lunch.
There is no cost for this trip and we will travel by bus to and from Baynons Brake, leaving at 9.15am and returning by 2.50pm. Students will need some extra lunch, drink bottle and hat.

This is our plan for the day:

What is happening this week:

  • Tuesday: trip to Baynons Break
  • Wednesday: sushi - order through Kindo
  • School Gala: 4-7pm (invite everyone you know)
Here are some photos from our learning to sew session:
It's called 'Fun with Mrs Caddie and Paula', and this will happen most Thursday afternoons. Our focus is going old school and teaching skills like sewing, knitting etc.

Today's inquiry session started with a wool game to make connections between each other.

Check out our Team Treaty.

We have worked really hard to develop a treaty that everyone agrees with and they have ownership off. This treaty will be at the fore front of everything we do in our team this year and all students will get a small copy of their own to keep safely with them, to support them to live this treaty in all areas of their school life.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
