Welcome to Team Tūhura's Blog for 2021

Welcome, we are so happy to have you in our Tūhura Whānau!

We hope you have all had a relaxing and fun summer holidays. We are both really excited to be teaching your child this year and we look forward to getting to know you all.

In Team Tūhura we base all our teaching on developing positive relationships between with our students and parents. We need to be able to work as a team to support our tamariki, so please make sure you come and spend time getting to know us and talk about any concerns you have.

Here is a little bit about both of us to help you get to know us:

Hi guys, my name is Miss G and this is my first year in the Clarkville School community. I have recently finished studying to become a teacher at Canterbury University and absolutely love working with children just like you. I am from a farm in North Canterbury where I have lots of pets including a horse, a dog, a cat and a cow. In my spare time I love spending time with my friends and family and doing outdoor activities like skiing, hiking and swimming. In my family I have my mum Sarah, my dad Jim and my little sister Ella.

Hi everyone, my name is Paula and I have been working here at Clarkville for the last 6 years. I love working in team Tūhura and I know we will have lots of fun together. I am married to Steven and have three older children. Mitch is married to Larissa and has two boys, Oakley who is 3 and Everett who is 7 months old. My second son is Sean and he is married to Charlie, and lastly my daughter Ella. I love the outdoors, the beach especially, and just hanging with my family. I also have a very bouncy, blonde Border Collie named Atlas.

Our blog will come out each Friday with information for the upcoming week. You will get an alert via the school app.

The first few weeks of the year we will be doing fun activities to get to know each other, to understand how important and unique we all are and how we all belong in the team. We will also be developing our team treaty, this will set the platform for how our team will collaborate and work together for the year. Our Treaty is not something that we rush, as we need the students to develop this together and fully understand it.

Please read the information booklet that you picked up on goal setting day to see more about who we are and how we work in Tūhura.

Once again we look forward to getting to know you all over these next few weeks, we are both very approachable, so please come and have a chat.

Ngā mihi nui

Paula and Miss G
